Haight Ashbury

The center of the hippie movement and the Summer of Love in 1967, the Haight is a great place to visit. Nowadays there a lots of cool clothes stores, cafes and bars, as well as Ameoba Records, the largest record and music store in the city. Past inhabitants of the neighborhood include the Grateful Dead, Jeferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Charles Manson and Patty Hearst.

Haight Street ends at Golden Gate Park, and just a short walk away is Hippie Hill, where the spirit of the hippie movement lives on, the drum circle is always a great place to hang out on weekends.
