Where in San Francisco are you located?

We pride ourselves in being one of the best located hostels in San Francisco. Only two blocks away is Union Square (for shopping), the cable car turnaround and train connection to San Francisco International Airport. We’re also not on a giant hill, which makes walking to us with your suitcase a breeze. 

Are there any restictions?

We are a traveler, vacation and student stay provider,  we only accommodate guests from outside of the Sna Francisco area.

Where can I park my car?

You can park at one of the nearby downtown garages for around $30-40 per night. Free parking in San Francisco is rare, street parking can be problematic.  We don't receommend a car in the city - public transport is very good and is easily accessible nearby.

Do I need a membership to stay at Adelaide Hostel?

No. We are an independent San Francisco hostel and proud of it. 

What do I need to check in?

You’ll need a non-expired, non-Bay Area, government issued ID (not a photocopy). We also recommend you reserve early to guarantee a bed or private room. You can read more on our Policies page. 

Is there a minimum or maximum amount of time I can stay?

We have no minimum, with a maximum stay of 14 days. You can read more on our Policies page. 

Do you offer free WiFi?


Is there an age restriction?

Anyone under the age of 18 is required to be accompanied by an adult parent or legal guardian. All ages are welcome.

Does the Adelaide have a kitchen?

Yes. We have a large kitchen for guests with two commercial stoves, along with large fridges to store your food items (make sure you add your provided name tag with date). We also have a large dining room with satellite television for your entertainment. 

Can I smoke/vape in Adelaide Hostel?

No. Smoking is not allowed inside Adelaide Hostel (or on our back patio or alleyway) at any time. All rooms are designated as non-smoking per California law. If you wish to smoke – and this includes electronic vaping devices – please head onto Taylor Street. We ask that you please be respectful of our downtown neighbors with your smoke and noise. 

Do you offer laundry service?

We offer guests two self-serve washers and dryers, available from 2pm to midnight every day. We also provide FREE laundry detergent for your needs.  

Do I need a sleeping bag?

No. Our beds come stocked with clean linens, blankets and pillows. 

Do you offer an airport shuttle?

Not since Covid. We recommend you contact Airport Express, or ride BART (Bay Area Regional Transit – San Francisco’s train) to and from SFO.  See Location page for details.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We have two cancellation policies: 

When you reserve directly with us  (online or by calling our front desk) we offer a 48-hour cancellation notice for private rooms, and a 24-hour notice for our dorm beds. Any cancellation notice after these time frames will result in full charges. 

If you reserve through any online travel agent, you must cancel with them directly.
